Okay I have done a lot of research on this act because I seriously couldn’t believe what I read (in my Glenn Beck newsletter). Here’s the quote that started me on this rampage:
Well, this is the story of the Born Alive Infants Protection Act and it goes back to a hospital in the southwest suburbs of Chicago called Christ Hospital where they were performing on a regular basis induced labor abortions and these are late second, early third trimester abortions in which the drugs are given to the mother to induce violent labor and the baby is usually killed in the contractions and comes out. But about 15 to 20% of the time this produces a a live baby is born, I should say. And sometimes the babies will live just for a few minutes, sometimes for several hours. But this hospital was not giving any thought to medical treatment for them when they survived and could have potentially lived on and saved in incubator under whatever sort of medical technology we have to keep premature babies alive. They were simply shelving them and
Here Glenn cuts him off and makes sure he heard him correctly. These babies were surviving abortions and the hospital was just letting them die. And this law that was going before legislation in Illinois was not even to stop them from doing this, but to change the conditions in which these babies were being left to die. Check out testimonies of Jill Stanek . These babies were being stored in the same utility closets that were being used for medical waste. No one was against this at the Federal level. George Bush signed the federal law in December of 2006. The only person on the Senate voting against this law was Barak Obama. Obama has some really sketchy reasons as to why he doesn’t support this law. (It finally did pass in 2005 when Obama was out of the Senate). He says it would place another burden on women and “he just couldn’t support that”. Even Hillary Clinton agrees a women’s right to chose is gone when the baby leaves her womb.
I researched most of what David Freddoso had to say in this interview myself. I literally could not believe what I was reading. This man is not just liberal, I believe if he is elected it will truely be the end of America as we know it. I will be honest, I have a lot to learn about John McCain, but anything anything is better than someone who supports infantcide. If you are seriously supporting Obama please research seriously where he stands on the ISSUES. It’s great that he can deliver a speech like no one else, but is that really what matters when it comes to running this country?

I’ll be the first to admit that McCain isn’t my first choice but it’s all the things like hearing these stories and doing my research on Obama tht make me even more convinced that McCain is by FAR the better choice in this election!!

I have to agree with you completely on people needing to research Obama. A friend of mine told me that he was going to vote for the person that gave the best speech and got the crowd the most excited. I don’t think he really understands what the people are getting excited about, and to be honest I don’t know if the people actually understand what Obama is and is not saying.
I think you are very smart for starting this. I have had so many moments in this election year that I have wanted to say something and have not found the proper medium to say it. I think this is awesome!

Hello, This is ashley from TCBOTB! I looked at your blog and had to click on your political blog to see what you were talking about. I posted the same types of concerns on my personal blog, theazhunts.blogspot.com, and I just feel so sick about the whole thing. I’m glad that there’s other people out there who have the same feelings that I do about this horrendous issue!

Saying that Obama supports infanticide is distortion of the truth — a flat out lie. If you research Obama’s stand on the issues, while Obama opposed the state version of the “born alive” bill, he says he would have supported the federal version of the bill. The reason he opposed one, yet supported the other was that the state version also included language that could have undermined Roe. v. Wade.
Now that starts the discussion of “when does life begin” and the whole abortion debate — which again, people are entitled to their beliefs and their opinions. But don’t say Barack Obama supports infanticide. That’s just down right wrong.

Also, it is important the we research where Obama stands on issues if we support him. (Same goes for Mccain supporters.) But, it is equally important to research where the opponent stands. You cannot believe everything your party tells you. Truth is distorted. The media always has a spin on things. Always. When it comes right down to it, Obama, Mccain, whoever — they are politicians, looking to get elected. It is our privilege to vote and with that privilege it is our duty to know who we are voting for, just as much as it is to know who are AREN’T voting for.

I have to agree with LG a lot…but most especially on research. I am not totally decided yet, but am leaning heavily toward Senator Obama. And especially after Senator McCain’s VP pick…I have to say, McCain’s mom is like 100 years old and I really don’t think he would (and certainly hope he would not) die while in office regardless of him being the oldest president; so besides that, I just don’t want to see Palin as VP at all… second in command is too powerful for me. She seems like a great woman and mother, and I don’t care about the reasons she’s in the tabloids…I care that she is ridiculously inexperienced (no comparison between her and Senator Obama, so quit trying everybody) and very close minded about her opinions…in many cases, she makes her personal opinions more important that what is best for the public.
Anyway, besides that little aside I had about Palin…I read articles from a number of biased and non-biased news sources to be sure I am hearing it all…I even read Megan McCain’s blog (mccainblogette.com) as well. To deduct opinions on candidates based on limited or biased research is never a good idea. Don’t just swallow what someone else wrote, deduct your own opinions, you deserve it! (Lauren, none of this is directed at you, but rather everyone who reads this including you).
Because I think it is the most important thing for the general whole of our country, social issues and human rights are what sway me the most in politics. With that being said, I would like to pose a question. This is beside the point of whether or not I agree or disagree with abortion…technically I am pro choice, with my person choice being never to abort a fetus inside of me…so my question is this: If you feel so strongly about the rights of unborn human beings, how do you feel about the rights of already living, breathing, and contributing human beings? I don’t want to group people into types, so I am not assuming you are against gay rights….but I do know many pro-life believers who are also anti gay rights. This is outrageous to me and I would like to know the reasoning. Common sense tells you, morality tells you, even in so many ways the bible tells you…that unless they are doing something wrong, how can you inhibit someone else’s rights? That isn’t fair or loving or just or RIGHT.

I’m not taking anything anyone has said on this blog personal, but I just want you to know I have not posted anything unless I can find it in more than 3 sources, that are non-blog sources, so hopefully it’s a little more than opinion. But just want it out there that what I’m saying is not just what I’ve been told by my party, but through lots of google research 🙂

Yes, but Lauren, many of these sources are swayed by politicians. For example, Fox News is very conservative and very right wing. Therefore, anything you hear from them is a very conservative view. It might be a reliable news source, but it is not impartial and it takes sides. Same goes for left wing media. That is why you, the voter, have to take what you hear from both sides and come to your own conclusions, ya know? Now, you may do that and your conclusions may agree 100% percent with the right side, and that’s fine. But don’t rely on the media, however many sources you hear something in, to decide for you. The media can be evil…and this is coming from Ms. Journalism herself!

I agree that people need to hop off the bandwagon a second and hop onto their computers, to find out where Obama really stands. It’s hard to find much he really stands for that isn’t contrary to gospel principles.
And he’s not that great of an orator, IMO. 🙂
